Proper care for the teeth and gums has been proven to extend pets’ lives. Queenstown Veterinary Hospital will evaluate your pet’s teeth at every visit and will recommend regular cleanings as part of the dental care necessary to preserve your pet’s health.
Much of dental disease is located below the gum line, where a visual examination cannot detect abnormalities. Sometimes the best thing for your pet is a dental cleaning under anesthesia where every tooth can be evaluated and the best treatment plan can be started.
Keeping Your Pet’s Teeth Clean
Many pets require a cleaning once a year, but our recommendations are made on an individual pet basis. We always discuss with you which procedures will benefit your pet and the reasons why. You will be given all the information you need and a complete treatment plan before we begin.
Along with regular dental cleanings performed by the doctors at Queenstown Veterinary Hospital, we recommend brushing your pet’s teeth at home. If necessary, we also can advise you on special foods and treats to give your pet. Although they are not a replacement for professional cleanings, they can be a beneficial part of your pet’s regular dental care.
