DELMARVA – We’re just days away from the 4th of July holiday and as you’re preparing your menu for the festivities, you’re also advised to make sure your pet is safe.
The loud noises from fireworks can cause pets much anxiety. The 4th of July is actually one of the most common holidays where pets go missing due to running away or being scared.
We checked in with Queenstown Veterinary Hospital who has some tips for you to keep in mind and to be a good neighbor. “Be cognizant of if there’s any open doors or open gates. If you go to someone’s pool party, close the gate behind you. Make sure that any pets that are there aren’t able to get out,” Dr. Marianne Bailey said.
“Make sure your pets are properly identified whether that’s a collar with a name, phone number, or tag with a phone number.”
Dr. Bailey also advises that you reach out to your local vet for medication options to help your pet with anxiety.
